Meter pop

Jenkins' first work of art of this kind was a series of clear tape prints of his body that he installed in the streets of Rio de Janeiro (2003). In the Storker project in 2005 with Sandra Fernandez, he placed a number of "babies" made of adhesive tape in different cities. In 2006, Jenkins began to dress the sculptures in such a way that they became hyperrealistic bodies (Embed Series) . In 2007 Banksy personally invited the artist to participate in his project Santa's Ghetto in Bethlehem.

In 2008 he worked with Greenpeace on the street installation Plight of the Polar Bears .

In cooperation with the art association Positive Propaganda eV, Mark Jenkins realized a work in Munich in 2013 with the title Tic-Tac-Toe , in which a sculpture in the form of a graffiti artist was painted on a facade in Munich's Westend.

Jenkins' street art uses the street as a stage on which passers-by become actors. Many of his installations have called security forces on the scene, whom he also sees as players.

Glazed Paradise

Jenkins describes his oeuvre as "Glazed Paradise"; his website of the same name glazedparadise.com shows digital collages of his street figures in surreal surroundings.

“Mark Jenkins became known through a number of unusual installations in urban space. Lifelike animal figures made from conventional packing tape, such as dogs and giraffes, but also people, were left behind by him without a specific assignment at selected locations in mostly urban surroundings. In this tradition, 'Embed' is a long-term project for which Jenkins uses tape tapes from his own body. These figures dressed by him can be found in various poses. They beg, sit on roofs or wait on facade walls. All of Jenkins' characters have in common that they are faceless and therefore appear strange despite their everyday appearance. They seem to be completely isolated from their surroundings. His sculptures are like a social experiment that provokes a whole range of emotions. For example, when a bear figure attached to a garbage can, which the artist installed in 2008 for a Greenpeace environmental campaign, triggers such panic that even a bomb disposal squad was called in.
