Career

Mark Jooris began his career as a hockey player at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute , for whose ice hockey team he was active in the National Collegiate Athletic Association from 1982 to 1986 . He then played six games for Team Canada before moving to Europe for the first time in the 1986/87 season, where he received a contract with Ässät Pori . In the following season he was top scorer of his team with 63 points scorer, but ended the season with the Springfield Indians and Nova Scotia Oilers in the American Hockey League . Most of the 1988/89 season, the attacker spent again when Team Canada before it the season when HC Sierre in the Swiss National League B ended.

From 1989 to 1991 Jooris was under contract with the ice hockey department of Eintracht Frankfurt in the ice hockey Bundesliga . In the Main metropolis he advanced to the top scorer behind Jiří Lála for two seasons before the Canadian left Eintracht due to the bankruptcy of the club and joined the second division team Dynamo Berlin , with whom he immediately achieved promotion to the Bundesliga. With 123 points from 50 games, Jooris was instrumental in achieving the stated goal and the striker became the crowd favorite among Dynamo fans. After this season, the Canadian was proven to have Belgian ancestors and he was given a Belgian passport, which made him a sought-after player in the Bosman ruling . So the Düsseldorfer EG approached him and lured the player, who is now under the EU contingent, to Brehmstrasse . Jooris only played there for half a year, and due to a chronic Achilles tendon disease he was never able to use his capabilities properly. During the 1992/93 season he returned to the Spree . At the club, which has meanwhile been renamed Eisbären Berlin, he was able to show a good point average per game, but only played a few games due to injury. In addition, there were salary disputes with the club and so the Canadian with a Belgian passport switched to for the remainder of the 1994/95 season , in which he had scored 18 scorer points, including nine goals, in twelve games for the Berlin team in the newly founded German Ice Hockey League Swiss NLA participant SC Rapperswil-Jona , for whom he scored two goals and three assists in three games.

For the 1995/96 season , Jooris signed a contract with the DEL participant SC Riessersee . After the team went bankrupt after the season, he spent one season each at their league rivals Wedemark Scorpions and Revierlöwen Oberhausen , which were also his last two clubs in Germany. For the 1998/99 season Jooris moved to the Swiss National League B for HC Servette Genève , for which he scored 23 goals and 59 assists in 40 games. He was the top scorer of the entire NLB. In addition, he was twice on the ice for his former club from Rapperswil in the NLA. In the 1999/2000 season he stormed for the EHC Biel in the NLB. In 2001, Jooris returned to his Canadian homeland, where he served as player- coach for the Dundas Real McCoys in the Ontario Hockey Association until 2007. In the 2007/08 season he worked as an assistant coach for his ex-club HC Sierre in the NLB. From 2009 to 2011 he was behind the gang for one year each with the Canadian junior teams Burlington Cougars and Oakville Blades.
