Mark Taylor (sound engineer)

Mark Taylor (born December 1, 1966 in Farnborough ) is a British sound engineer . He has been nominated twice for an Oscar so far .

Mark Taylor began his career in 1994 as assistant dubbing mixer in the production of The Prince of Jutland . In the following year he was in several national and international productions, including for Trainspotting - Neue Helden , sound re-recording mixer . He also held this position in 1997 at Knockin 'on Heaven's Door .

For the television film Citizen Kane , Taylor won his first Emmy Award for best sound editing with Clive Derbyshire and Mike Dowson . Two years later he won this award again with Colin Charles and Mike Dowson for the third part of the mini-series Band of Brothers , and he was also nominated for the second part with David Stephenson and Dowson. For the second part he won the Cinema Audio Society Prize in the same year , for which he also won 2004 for My House in Umbria , 2009 for James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace, Was nominated for a Game of Thrones episode in 2012 and for Captain Phillips in 2014 . Taylor won the BAFTA Award in 2007 for James Bond 007: Casino Royale , in 2009 he was nominated for Quantum of Solace , 2014 for Captain Phillips and 2016 for The Martian .

For Captain Phillips and The Martian , Taylor received Oscar nominations for Best Sound in 2014 with Chris Burdon , Mike Prestwood Smith, and Chris Munro, and in 2016 with Paul Massey and Mac Ruth . In 2014 he lost to Skip Lievsay , Niv Adiri , Christopher Benstead and his colleague from Captain Phillips , Chris Munro, who received the Oscar for the film Gravity .
