Marko Mikael Palo (* 26. September 1967 in Jyväskylä ) is a retired Finnish ice hockey player , who in his active period 1985 to 2002, including for the HPK Hämeenlinna in the SM-liiga and the HV71 the and Malmo Redhawks in the Swedish Elitserien played Has. Since 2010 he has been working as a junior trainer at the HPK.
Career
Marko Palo began his career as a hockey player at HPK Hämeenlinna , for whom he made his debut in the I divisioona in the 1985/86 season and with whom he rose to the SM-liiga in the 1987/88 season . With Hämeenlinna the attacker was runner-up in 1993. In the 1994/95 season he was Swedish champion with the HV71 . After the success, the right-shooter stayed in the Elitserien , in which he ran up for the Malmö Redhawks the following year .
After the two seasons in Sweden, Palo returned to his Finnish homeland in 1996, where he was on the ice for HPK Hämeenlinna from 1996 to 2001, with whom he took third place in the SM-liiga in 1997, 1999 and 2000. Only during the 1997/98 season was the winger under contract with their league rivals Espoo Blues . He also started the 1999/00 season at HC Vsetín in the Czech extra league . Palo ended his career with Ässät Pori in the 2001/02 season . In 2005 he was honored with the induction into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame .
International
For Finland , Palo took part in the World Championships in 1993 , 1994 and 1995 , and the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer .
