Markus Kotzur

Markus Kotzur (born July 29, 1968 in Coburg ) is a German legal scholar and professor at the University of Hamburg .

Career

Kotzur studied law at the University of Freiburg and the University of Bayreuth . After taking his first state examination in law, he completed a master’s degree at Duke University in Durham , which he obtained with an LL.M. completed. After the second state examination in 1996, Kotzur became a research assistant to Peter Häberle at the University of Bayreuth. There he was examined in 2000 with the study Theoretical elements of international human rights protection. The example of the preamble to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. From the winter semester 2002/03 Kotzur represented chairs at the universities of Cologne , Dresden , Würzburg , Münster and Leipzig . On November 1, 2005, he was appointed to the University of Leipzig, where he held the chair for European law, international law and public law and was the executive director of the Institute for international law, European law and foreign public law. Since February 1, 2012 he has been Professor of European and International Law and Deputy Director of the Institute for International Affairs at the Faculty of Law at the University of Hamburg.
