Martin Günthner (born January 25, 1976 in Bremerhaven ) is a German politician ( SPD ). Since February 2010 he was Senator for Economy and Ports (from June 2011 Economy, Labor and Ports ) and Senator for Justice and Constitution of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen .

Family, education and work

After graduating from high school, Günthner took a degree in the cultural history of Eastern Europe, history and philosophy at the University of Bremen , which he completed without a degree. He then completed an 18-month correspondence course in the field of public relations with a degree in PR consultant ( DPRG ) . Before assuming the office of senator, he worked as an independent communications and PR consultant.

Günthner was one of three equal speakers from 1995 to 1999 and sole chairman of the Juso sub-district of Bremerhaven from 1999 to 2002 . From 1998 to 2002 he was one of three equal speakers of the Juso regional association in Bremen. From 1997 to 1999 Günthner was a member of the Bremerhaven city ​​council as a successor . Since 2002 he has been deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district of Bremerhaven.

Günthner was a member of the Bremen parliament from 1999 to February 24, 2010 and since 2007 deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He was a member of the Committee for Port Affairs in the State of Bremen (Chairman), the State Deputation for Economy and Ports and the temporary committee for the implementation of Federalism Reform II in the State of Bremen.

On February 24, 2010, Günthner was elected as the successor to Ralf Nagel as Senator for Economics and Ports and Senator for Justice and Constitution of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen ( Senate Böhrnsen II ). After the general election in Bremen in 2011 , Günthner was re-elected to the state government as Senator for Economics, Labor and Ports and Senator for Justice and Constitution ( Senate Böhrnsen III ).

In March 2012 Günthner was elected as the new chairman of the Bremerhaven SPD.

In July 2015 he was again Senator for Economics, Labor and Ports in the Sieling Senate . He appointed State Councilor Ekkehart Siering as his representative. In 2019 he resigned as a senator. His successors in August 2019 were Kristina Vogt ( Die Linke ) for the areas of business, labor and Europe and Claudia Schilling (SPD) for the areas of ports and justice.
