Martin Küchen (* 1966 in Eskilstuna ) is a Swedish jazz and improvisation musician ( saxophone ) and composer .

Live and act

Küchen learned to play the flute from the age of nine and switched to the tenor saxophone at the age of 14 . He also sang in a rock band. After two years of training at the music school in Skurup , he was active as a street musician until 1993 . Between 1995 and 1997 he worked as a circus musician in Europe. Then he was active in the Swedish improvisation and free jazz scene. a. in the Trio Angles (with Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and Kjell Nordeson ), which was later expanded to a nonet ( Angles 9 ). He also composed for larger ensembles, worked with dance projects, poets and recorded music for experimental films. He formed the Trespass Trio with bassist Per Zanussi and drummer Raymond Strid . His other projects include the quartet Exploding Customer (with Tomas Hallonsten , Benjamin Quigley and Kjell Nordeson), the Trio Sound of Mucus (with Herman Müntzing and Andreas Axelsson ), the Trio Unsolicited Music Ensemble (with Tony Wren and Raymond Strid) Duo with David Stackenäs , the formation UNSK (with Birgit Ulher , Lise-Lott Norelius and Raymond Strid) and the Trio Looper (with Nikos Veliotis and Ingar Zach ). After Tom Lord , he was involved in 21 recording sessions between 2002 and 2012. Küchen is a member of the Fire! Orchestra by Mats Gustafsson .
