Martin Lamble (* 28. August 1949 in London , † 12. May 1969 in Mill Hill ) was a British folk rock - drummer , who as a member of Fairport Convention became known.

Lamble was hired by Fairport Convention in May 1967 after stepping on stage after a concert by the band and claiming he could play better than Shaun Frater, who was the band's drummer at the time. The band had Lamble audition, and shortly thereafter Lamble took Frater's place.

Lamble only got around to playing on the first three Fairport Convention albums, however. He died in a bus accident on May 11, 1969. The other members survived, partially injured. Lamble's successor at Fairport Convention was Dave Mattacks .
