Martin Reuther

Martin Reuther (born June 23, 1901 in Seidau , † May 28, 1975 in Bautzen ) was a German cartography historian and archivist .

After attending school, studying and doing his doctorate in Dresden, Reuther worked as a teacher in Dresden until 1945 , teaching history and geography. After the bombing , he went back to his hometown and worked in the Bautzen City Library under Jakob Jatzwauk in 1948/49 . From August 1, 1949, he worked at the Saxon regional branch archive for Upper Lusatia in Bautzen, which he took over from 1951 until his retirement in 1969. In January 1959, Reuther received a teaching position as a specialist in the field of map history at what was then the Institute for Cartography at the Technical University of Dresden . His lecture manuscripts are kept in the SLUB Dresden .
