Martin Spieß (* 1981 in Dannenberg (Elbe) ) is a German writer, musician and comedian.

Live and act

Martin Spieß studied creative writing and cultural journalism at the University of Hildesheim from 2003 to 2008 . From 2005 to 2010 he worked as an author for the Berlin literary criticism and literaturkritik.de, among others . He has published in the Financial Times Germany , the daily newspaper , the intro (magazine) , in Das Magazin (Germany) , in the blog of the Huffington Post Germany and in the title culture magazine . He writes regularly for the online magazine Zebra Butter .

In July 2010, Birnbaum Verlag published his debut “ I'm not that far yet. A Heath Ledger Story, ”a fictional version of the final days of Australian actor Heath Ledger , who died in New York in January 2008. His second book, the short story volume “ Weiter Weg ”, was published in June 2011. The Weser-Kurier wrote about it: “If there was a prize for the best first sentences, Spieß would have won it.” In September 2014, his third book, New -York novel " As far away as possible ". In November 2016, his second volume of short stories was published, “ I'd rather turn around and am far, far away ” and in February 2017, his fifth book “ And until it's that far, there's ice cream ”, a novel that was written during a Castor- Transports in Wendland plays.

In addition to the literary, he does music and comedy. His indie rock solo project, with which he has released three long-playing albums so far, is called the opening act. He forms one half of the comedy duo The Level , which has released three studio and three live albums so far.
