Martin Unfried (* 1966 in Ellwangen ) is a German columnist and political scientist . In 2007 he was awarded the German Solar Prize by Eurosolar for his column Ökosex in the taz (abbreviation for the daily newspaper ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Unfried studied political and theater studies at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in Erlangen . During his studies he worked as a freelance radio and television journalist for Radio Z in Nuremberg and the Bavarian Radio . He began his professional career at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg as a research assistant . After a research stay at the “European Institute for Public Administration” (EIPA) in Maastricht, he has been a lecturer at EIPA since 1997 . During his work at EIPA, Unfried also dealt with questions of cross-border work. Martin Unfried has also been working at Maastricht University since 2016 . In 2019 Unfried became project manager at the University of Maastricht at the newly founded "Institute for Transnational and Euregional Cross-border Cooperation and Mobility" (ITEM).

Martin Unfried lives in Maastricht with his wife and two children. His brother is the journalist Peter Unfried .

Publications on aspects of environmental and climate policy

As a contrast to his main job, Unfried writes articles , commentaries and cheerful columns on the emotional and social aspects of environmental and climate policy . He considers himself the inventor of ecotainment .

From 2006 to 2011 Unfried's column Ökosex - "the only column with a band" - appeared in the print edition of the daily newspaper and on taz.de. Since July 2011 it has been published irregularly on blogs.taz.de . These columns were partly also on the websites of the Federation for Environment and Nature Conservation Germany (BUND) , of the energy consumer , the former Saar Courier Online , the website of Franz Alt bright side , the German Sustainability - online platform Utopia.de and on the website published by Martin Unfried "www.oekotainment.eu". Since 2008 he writes for the magazine fairkehr , the membership magazine of the Association for Transport Germany (VCD) , regularly Column fair versa .
