Masaharu Ueda

Masaharu Ueda (born January 1, 1938 in Funabashi , Chiba Prefecture ) is a Japanese cameraman .

Life

Masaharu Ueda began working in the film business as a camera assistant in the mid-1960s. He has been an independent cameraman since 1971. He worked with director Akira Kurosawa on several films .

Together with his colleagues Asakazu Nakai and Takao Saitō he was for the film Ran in 1986 for the Oscar in the category Best Cinematography nomination. He and Saitō also received the Boston Society of Film Critics Award for best camera .

At the Japanese Academy Awards in 1992, 1994 and 2001 he received the award for Best Camera .
