Matthias Deutschmann (born September 16, 1958 in Betzdorf ) is a German cabaret artist . In 1973 he moved to South Baden and began studying in Freiburg in 1977. From 1979 he became more and more involved with cabaret and initially appeared as a member of various cabaret groups. In 1989 he moved to Berlin and now began to perform solo programs. In 1991 he returned to Freiburg. Deutschmann's trademark is playing the cello , which he uses in his program as a lyrical counterpoint to his often biting punch lines.

As part of the Studium Generale at the University of Freiburg , Matthias Deutschmann took part in a workshop by Sammy Drechsel from the Munich Lach- und Schießgesellschaft in January 1979 . In the autumn of 1979 the “Schmeißfliege” cabaret was founded, which owes its name to a dictum by the then CDU / CSU candidate for chancellor Franz Josef Strauss : “You don't litigate with rats and blowflies.” On April 30, 1980, the nine-member student cabaret celebrated “Schmeißfliege “His first appearance in the Kolping House Freiburg. On December 12, 1982, the program Voices from the Mass Grave - A Passion under the Sign of the Cross for choir, orchestra and solos had its world premiere (music: Cornelius Schwehr, text collage and texts by Matthias Deutschmann). In 1983 the "blowfly" was dissolved.

Matthias Deutschmann founded the “Executiv Cabaret” together with Joschi Krüger and Cornelia Peschko. From 1984 to 1986 Matthias Deutschmann also worked as a copywriter for the Düsseldorfer Kom (m) ödchen . In December he produced a video for the street theater Bread for the World with Medienwerkstatt Freiburg , but the sausage stays here! . On April 30, 1985 Matthias Deutschmann appeared for the first time with a cabaret solo under the title Blinder Alarm (together with the "Under Cover Combo": Michael Erhard (p), Urban Deutschmann (tr), Peter Welte (pos) Frank Goos (sax) Music: Markus Lehmann). In 1986 he went on tour with the program Blinder Alarm (Michael Mark (p, sax) music: Cornelius Schwehr). In the same year he worked on the Geisterfahrer program at the Freiburg media workshop. The solo program Eine Schnauze voll Deutschland followed in September 1986 .

In 1987 Matthias Deutschmann supported together with Rio Reiser, Wolf Biermann, Udo Lindenberg, Wolfgang Niedecken, Georg Ringsgwandl u. a. the election campaign gala tour Winter Magic of the Greens. In 1987 he performed the solo One flew over the Basic Law .

In 1989 Matthias Deutschmann moved from Freiburg to Berlin. In August 1989 the program One flew over the Basic Law for the TV station 3SAT was recorded there at the international radio exhibition . In October 1989 the program Amokkoma (together with Christian Kuhnert) celebrated its premiere.

In 2008 he went on a summer tour with Leo Bassi.

In 1992 Matthias Deutschmann made regular appearances in the ZDF morning magazine, but was kicked out in 1993 by ZDF director Dieter Stolte. Matthias Deutschmann has been a regular guest at the Cologne Midnight Peak (WDR) since 1993. In 1994 he delivered The 5-Minute Terrine of the TV Cabaret 14 times in the ARD reference .

Mattias Deutschmann was a youth player in the German Chess Federation. In 1977 he was Badischer Jugendmeister and played from 1977 to 1988 and twice in the 1998/99 season with the SK Freiburg-Zähringen 1887 eV in the Bundesliga . He is now playing for SC Ehaben. In addition, since 1996 he has been lending his voice to the "speaking chess program" Fritz . In May 2002 he gave a humorous speech at the ceremony marking the 125th anniversary of the German Chess Federation in Leipzig . His Elo rating is 2165 (as of July 2014), but he is listed as inactive at FIDE because he has not played a rated game since the 2006/07 season of the Oberliga Baden.
