Matthias Ruländer (born August 16, 1964 ) is a former German soccer player. He was a defender and won the German championship with Werder Bremen in 1988.

Career

In his youth, Matthias Ruländer played for VfR Wilsche-Neubokel , a club from Gifhorn , and MTV Gifhorn . He later moved to VfL Wolfsburg , for whom he completed 31 games (6 goals) in the Oberliga Nord in his first season in the senior division .

In the 1983/84 season he was in the Bundesliga squad of Werder Bremen , but did not play a game. After he was loaned to FC St. Pauli in the 2nd Bundesliga North for the following season , he returned to SV Werder in 1985. In the following years he could not fight for a regular place and never came up with more than twelve season assignments. In the championship season 1987/88 he was used only twice.

In the 1988/89 season he played for Borussia Dortmund , with which he won the DFB Cup. In Dortmund he made eleven Bundesliga appearances and scored his only Bundesliga goal.
