Max Hirschenauer
Max Hirschenauer (born March 2, 1885 in Schärding ; † November 28, 1955 there ) was an Austrian landscape , genre and portrait painter .
Live and act
Max Hirschenauer was the son of Creszenz and Ferdinand Hirschenauer, who had run the Zum Schützenwirt inn in Schärding am Inn since 1880 . The family also owned some properties in the old town of Schärding. Ferdinand Hirschenauer was born in 1844 as the son of a large landowner in Neuhaus am Inn in what was then the Kingdom of Bavaria . Max Hirschenauer had four siblings.
Through his uncle's mediation, Hirschenauer came to Munich and worked from 1904 to 1911 at the Bruckmann Art Institute as a draftsman and retoucheur. At the age of 26, Hirschenauer began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Gabriel von Hackl . Hugo von Habermann is one of his other teachers . After the First World War he finished his studies and lives as a freelance artist in Munich . He was a typical representative of the Austrian Late Impressionism .
After moving to Linz , he joined the MAERZ artists ' association in the interwar period and was a founding member of the Innviertel artists' guild . In Linz, Hirschenauer maintained friendly contacts with Demeter Koko and his wife Kamilla. Both Demeter Koko and his wife Kamilla have portraits from the hand of Hirschenauer. A friendship with the Kitzbühel artist Alfons Walde emerges from several correspondence . The mutual respect as painters is underpinned by the jointly created portrait of Lieutenant Peter Scheider from 1932. Hirschenauer also painted Lily Walde, Alfon Waldes' second wife. As a Schärdinger he also had contact with Alfred Kubin and Margret Bilger and did valuable artistic educational work in the Innviertel .
