Max Wulff

Max Wulff (born December 15, 1871 in Berlin , † 1947 ) was a German painter , graphic artist and illustrator .

Life

Max Wulff studied at the University of the Arts in Berlin and at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

He illustrated numerous fairy tale , children's and youth books , including the works of authors such as Karl May , James Fenimore Cooper , Frederick Marryat , Jules Verne , Sophie Wörishöffer , Ottilie Wildermuth , Marie von Felseneck , Else Ury and Johanna Spyri . In particular, he worked for the publishing houses A. Weichert and Meidinger in Berlin.

Wulff also made an oil portrait of the aged Arthur Schopenhauer based on a photograph by Johann Schäfer from 1859.
