Maxdata (MAXDATA) was one of the largest European IT producers. The company, which is temporarily listed in Germany , was founded by Holger Lampatz in 1987 and had around 1000 employees at the end of 2007, including around 450 at the company's headquarters in Marl . The second largest location was the factory in Würselen , which has been operating as Manulogs Manufacturing and Logistic Services GmbH since 2007. In June 2008 and November 2010 the company filed for bankruptcy. After the takeover by Quanmax and the re-establishment of Maxdata GmbH in Mendig , the merger with XTRO IT-Solutions took place in 2015, which had previously been taken over by S&T Deutschland GmbH and then continued to operate under this company. The name Maxdata was taken over by Omega Handelsgesellschaft .
Products
The product range included u. a. Notebooks , monitors , PCs and servers . Maxdata exclusively addressed specialist dealers with its products (indirect sales model). In this respect, the range of products and services focused exclusively on the requirements of commercial clients.
Maxdata was present in the market with two independent brands: Maxdata for server, mobile and PC products and Belinea for the display and monitor sector as well as the notebook and home sector.
history
The company was founded in 1987 as Maxdata Computer GmbH and started manufacturing personal computers in 1990 . In 1992 notebooks were added to the product range.
In 1999 the company bought the production of Vobis . The Metro AG sold its shares in Maxdata and there was the restructuring of Maxdata AG. In 2003 the Maxdata share was admitted to the Prime Standard. The number of employees was reduced to 900 in 2006 through restructuring measures. On June 25, 2008, the company filed for insolvency due to impending insolvency. The competent local court in Essen had appointed attorney Winfried Andres as insolvency administrator. In November 2008 he sold Maxdata to Quanmax Inc., a specialist in embedded computing based in Taiwan, which then renamed S&T Deutschland GmbH . Today, Omega Handelsgesellschaft in Vienna sells specialized products for the B2B market under the brand name Maxdata . The monitor brand Belinea was taken over by the Brunen IT Group.
Switzerland
The then 100 percent subsidiary of Maxdata AG, Germany, based in Switzerland as Maxdata Computer AG, was never insolvent. With the closure of the Würselen supply plant at the end of 2008, a new partner had to be found. At the end of 2008, Brunen IT took over the majority of the shares. The company was renamed Belinea AG and repositioned itself on the Swiss market with the Belinea PC and notebook brand. All old guarantees from the Maxdata era were fully taken over by Belinea AG in Switzerland - in contrast to all other national companies. Quanmax took over the share package from Brunen IT in November 2010 and the company was renamed Maxdata (Schweiz) AG. A minority of the shares remained with management. Since then, the Maxdata own brand has been produced by Quanmax in Linz (Austria) and sold to specialist retailers in Switzerland. On May 31, 2016, the production of PCs and notebooks was discontinued due to the shrinking sales and the remainder of the company was merged with Anamonox AG from Bern .
