McLeod (Montana)

McLeod is a small town in the mid-south in Sweet Grass County in the US state of Montana . It is located in the Boulder Valley at an altitude of about 1,462 m, north of Yellowstone National Park near Highway 298 and southwest of the next larger town Big Timber . The place was founded in 1882 by the first permanent settlement by WF McLeod, the place lives next to the cattle and horse breeding mainly from the surrounding nature. The area is considered sparsely populated.

In terms of tourism, it is the starting point for anglers and rafters on the Boulder River that flows around it and for campers, hikers, riders and hunters through the pristine surrounding forest and the impressive mountain formation. The ranches of the Montana Dude Ranchers Association around McLeod offer their vacationers local activities.
