Medicinal Policey

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under the catchphrase Medicinische Policey (from the police in the early modern sense of the regulation of all governmental relationships within a public-law community ), sovereigns and urban authorities tried to set up and enforce an improved health system for their territories since the 17th century . The healer market was shared by four groups of healers. A distinction was made between academically trained doctors , skilled surgeons , midwives and pharmacists . The Medicinischen Policey endeavored to enforce the rules and duties of the doctor and the sick. For example, people should n't go to churches during epidemics to protect themselves from disease. However, these aspirations were contrary to tradition and belief. Nevertheless, many people took over the medical policey in their daily behavior, so that trust was built in the doctors and a healthier lifestyle could be guaranteed.
