Meininger Cabaret Days
The Meininger Cabaret Days are a cabaret festival that takes place every spring in the district town of Meiningen . At this festival, the whole variety of cabaret such as cabaret , comedy , pantomime , musical stage shows or humorous readings is presented over a period of around four weeks . The main venue is the Meiningen Volkshaus . Furthermore, the Kammerspiele and the Meiningen State Theater are used for performances.
The Meininger Kleinkunsttage was launched in 1992 and took place every year in September / October until 2018. The first artists included the cabaret Die Distel , the humorist Hansgeorg Stengel and the Irish folklorist Micho Russell. Since then, the guests have included a mixture of established and well-known artists such as Dieter Hallervorden , Diether Krebs , Dieter Hildebrandt or Ulla Meinecke and lesser-known, mostly young newcomers . At the time of their appearance, these newcomers also included Ingo Appelt , Martin Schneider and Olaf Schubert . In February 1996, the Friends of Meininger Kleinkunsttage eV was founded. The association sees itself as the lobby and audience representation of this unique festival in Thuringia . The association plays an important role in the selection of the winners for the award of the Thuringian Cabaret Prize , the Meininger Georg .
The award ceremony is a special highlight at the beginning of the festival and was held for the first time on the occasion of the 5th Meininger Kleinkunsttage 1996. The prize is awarded in the form of the "Meininger Georg" prize figure for a program shown in the previous year and is endowed with 5,555.55 euros, which is provided by the Rhön-Rennsteig-Sparkasse as part of its cultural funding.

The Meininger Kleinkunsttage are sponsored by the city of Meiningen. Some sponsorship money goes into the financing.
The initiator of the festival is Günther Weber, who was also the project manager until 2010.
