Meloman ( Russian Меломан ) is a retail company in Kazakhstan based in Almaty . It sells audio and video products, consumer electronics and books in its markets. It was founded in 1987 by Igor Deriglasow.
It has about 60 stores across Kazakhstan with a sales area of 50,000 square meters. Meloman owns the rights to sell productions from The Walt Disney Company , Sony Pictures Entertainment , Warner Bros. , Universal Studios , Mosfilm , Paramount Pictures , 20th Century Fox , DreamWorks , Sony Music Entertainment, and Universal Music .
history
Meloman was founded in 1987 in Öskemen by Igor Deriglasow. He sold illegally manufactured audio and video products there. Two years later, his brother Alexander took part in his brother's business.
In 1992 the company started selling televisions and in 1996 Meloman opened its first store in Öskemen under the name M-Technik. Contracts with LG Electronics , Samsung , Sony and Indesit allowed their products to be sold in stores.
In 2001, a contract was signed with Sony for the exclusive distribution of their products in Kazakhstan. The number of stores rose to seven by 2002.
In 2007 the number of stores had grown to 65. The Comfort shopping center was opened in Semei and on August 30, 2007 the first "Booking" branch was opened. Meloman's online shop was opened in 2009 . In addition, a contract was signed with Walt Disney Pictures to distribute their products.
In 2010, a contract was signed for the exclusive distribution of 20th Century Fox products in Kazakhstan.
Business areas
At the beginning of 2010, the Meloman chain was represented with 47 branches throughout Kazakhstan. A wide range of multimedia products ( films , music CDs , software , computer games and books ), digital hardware ( game consoles , laptops , cameras and cell phones ) and related accessories are available.
On August 30, 2007 the first branch of the "Booking" chain opened in Almaty . These are usually right next to a Meloman branch.
Two Comfort shopping centers and the M-Technik stores are also maintained in the Kazakh region of East Kazakhstan . The Comfort shopping centers in Öskemen and Semei offer building and decorative materials, electronics and household appliances, household goods and food.
