Guillermo Enrique Morales Portillo ( Memo Morales ; born April 6, 1937 in Maracaibo ; † January 1, 2017 ) was a Venezuelan singer who was known as "El Gitano Maracucho".

Morales began his musical career in 1953 as a singer with the Garrido y sus Solistas orchestra . In 1954 he went to Caracas and worked there with Juanito Arteta and his orchestra until 1958 . In 1958 he moved to Carlos Torres , and from 1959 to 1960 he was principal singer in Luis Alfonzo Larrain's orchestra . From 1961 to 1964 he was a member of the Los Hermanos Salanis Orchestra .

In 1964 Billo Frómeta brought him to his Billo's Caracas Boys , where he worked with Cheo García and José Luis Rodríguez González , among others , and won titles such as Ni Se Compra, Ni Se Vende , Viva España , Rumores , Parece Mentira , El Tunante , Dámele Betún , Juanita Bonita , Qué Tienes Tú , Eva , La Rubia y la Trigueña and Somos sang.

In 1976 Morales went on a successful concert tour as a soloist through the USA and performed in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, among others. In 1981 he founded the La Nuestra orchestra with Luisín Landáez , and in 1984 with Cheo García La Gran Orquesta de Cheo y Memo . This orchestra existed until García's death in 1994. Morales then worked again with Billo Frómeta and founded the Organización Musical Memo Morales , which was directed by his eldest son Guillermo Morales .
