Metaponto
Metaponto is a part of the municipality of Bernalda with around 1000 inhabitants . The town was originally founded by the Greeks between 700 and 690 BC as the Metapont , and therefore has numerous contemporary witnesses from the time of Magna Graecia .
Metaponto lives mainly from summer tourism and has a popular beach, more than twenty campsites and a dozen hotels. The Metaponto train station is on the route between Reggio di Calabria and Taranto .
