Metin Aktaş (born August 1, 1977 in Akçaabat ) is a former Turkish football goalkeeper .
Player career
society
Aktaş began playing football in the youth of his home club Akçaabat Sebatspor . From here he switched to the youth of the traditional Turkish club Trabzonspor in the summer of 1993 . Here he received a professional contract in the summer of 1995, but was only used in the reserve team for a year and a half. For the second half of the 1996/97 season he was added to the professional squad by the newly hired coach Yılmaz Vural . He made his professional debut on March 23, 1997 at a first division match against Kocaelispor . By the end of the season he had eight league games. In the following years he fought for the position of the goalkeeper, but then lost it. Nevertheless, he played a total of seven seasons for Trabzonspor and made it through convincing performances temporarily in the Turkish national football team . For the 2002/03 season, the Black Sea Club brought the Australian goalkeeper Michael Petkovic . He knew how to convince right from the start and ensured that Aktaş was only used in one cup encounter during the entire 2002/03 season. At the end of the season Aktaş was able to win the Turkish Football Cup with Trabzonspor and said goodbye to his club with this title.
For the new season he moved to his hometown club Akçaabat Sebatspor, which is now playing in the Süper Lig . After just one season he left the club and joined Kayserispor . In the following years he played for various clubs in the Süper Lig and the TFF 1st Lig .
For the 2010/11 season he moved to the TFF 2nd Lig to Şanlıurfaspor and moved on to Adana Demirspor after half a season . With this club he reached the relegation phase of the 2nd Lig at the end of the 2010/11 season and missed promotion to the TFF 1st Lig here in the last instance . A season later, the promotion succeeded via the relegation victory. With this success Aktaş ended his career.
National team
Aktaş appeared 19 times for the Turkish U-21 national team . He and his team took part in a U-21 European football championship , the U-21 European Championship 2000 , for the first time in the association 's history. Here, however, they were eliminated in the group stage.
In the period from 2000 to 2003 he played three times for the Turkish national team and was often a substitute keeper.
