Michael Angerschmid (born February 24, 1974 in Schärding ) is a former Austrian soccer player in the position of midfielder and was the head coach of SV Ried from December 2012 to May 2014 , for which he played 406 professional league games in his career.

Career

Michael Angerschmid played at SV Ried throughout his career, almost always as a defender. In total, the Upper Austrian played 277 games in the highest Austrian league for SV Ried and scored 13 goals. In his final 2005/06 season , he played 22 times and scored 1 goal. That year he became runner-up for the first time, which, in addition to winning the ÖFB Cup in 1997/98, was his greatest success in top-class sport.

After completing his playing career, Angerschmid became the coach of SV Ried Amateure. In his first season 2007/08 he managed with the team that plays in a syndicate with SV Neuhofen, promotion from the district league to the regional league West. In the 2008/09 season, the SpG Neuhofen / Ried made the march, was promoted champion and thus fixed the promotion to the Upper Austria League (fourth level). For the last three games of the 2007/08 season Angerschmid was interim coach of SV Ried, where he achieved two draws and one defeat. From the 2008/09 season he was in the team of head coach Paul Gludovatz and assistant coach of SV Ried, in December 2012 he was promoted to head coach.

From June 2015 to June 2019 he was assistant coach at LASK Linz under Oliver Glasner , who has been playing in the Bundesliga again since the 2017/18 season. With this he switched to the German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg as assistant coach in the summer of 2019 .
