Michael Horton (film editor)

Michael J. Horton (* in Lower Hutt ) is a New Zealand film editor . In 2002 he was the Editor of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers for the Academy Award nominated.

life and work

Horton was born in Lower Hutt , New Zealand . He attended Saint Patricks College in Wellington . In the mid-1960s, he began working as an editor for the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation . He started working with Geoff Murphy in the 1970s . In 1981 he edited the film Goodbye Pork Pie , which was very successful commercially in New Zealand and was an important impetus for the development of New Zealand cinema. Horton worked with Murphy on two other successful film projects in the 1980s before Murphy went to the United States. After Murphy's return to New Zealand, the two worked together on Spooked (2004).
