Michael Lieber (born December 11, 1953 in Braubach ) is a German CDU politician . From September 14, 2006 to August 31, 2019, he was District Administrator of the Altenkirchen district (Westerwald) .

Life and work

I preferred to go to elementary school first, and later to grammar school in Mainz . In 1973 he graduated from high school here. After completing his military service, he studied law from 1974 to 1981 at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . After studying and doing legal clerkship , Lieber became a legal advisor at the Hessian Main-Taunus district in 1984 and in 1985 a city councilor for the city of Mainz, where he worked as legal advisor and head of office until 1989 .

The councils of the city of Betzdorf and the Betzdorf municipality elected Lieber as their joint mayor in 1989. In the local elections on June 7, 1998, Michael Lieber was confirmed as mayor of the association and mayor of Betzdorf in primary election, as well as in the Rhineland-Palatinate local elections on June 13, 1999 and most recently on June 13, 2004.

On March 26, 2006, Michael Lieber was elected as District Administrator of the Altenkirchen district in the Westerwald with 53.7% of the votes cast. He is the successor to Dr. Alfred Beth (CDU).

Lieber has been chairman of the administrative board of Kreissparkasse Altenkirchen since September 14, 2006 , before he was a member of this body.

Political party

Michael Lieber has been a member of the CDU since 1971. From 1981 to 1987 he was deputy district chairman of the Junge Union Mainz, and was a member of the city ​​council of the state capital from 1984 to 1989. In addition, from 1985 to 1989, Lieber was district chairman of the communal political association of the Mainz CDU. From 1994 to 2006, Lieber was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the Altenkirchen district assembly.

Honorary positions

Michael Lieber was a member of the Presidium of the German-Israeli Society from 1985 to 1991 . Since 1989 he has been chairman of the German Red Cross , local association Betzdorf and since March 2010 first chairman of the DRK district association Altenkirchen.
