Michael Luciano

Michael "Mike" B. Luciano (born May 2, 1909 in McAdoo , Pennsylvania , † September 15, 1992 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor who was not only nominated four times for an Oscar for best editing , but also twice won the Eddie , the film award of the American Cinema Editors (ACE).

Life

Luciano began in 1938 as an editor in the film Man's Country and worked throughout his career at the average of more than 50 films and television series with.

In 1965 he was nominated for Eddie for the first time for the episode "I, Darrin, Take This Witch Samantha" (1964) from the television series In Love with a Witch . Also in 1965 was his first Oscar nomination for best editing in the film Lullaby for a Corpse (1964).

For The Flight of the Phoenix (1965) he was both in 1966 nominated for an Oscar and in 1966 for the Eddie for Best Editor. He won the Eddie for best film editing for the first time in 1968 for The Dirty Dozen (1967) and was again nominated for an Oscar at the 1968 Academy Awards for this film .

Luciano received another Eddie for Best Film Editing in 1975 for Die Kampfmaschine (The Longest Yard, 1974). For this film he was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Editing at the 1975 Academy Awards.

In addition to working for television series like Smoking Colts and Mother is the Very Best , he was also the editor of the films Rattennest (1955), Herbststürme (1956), The Ride Back (1957), What Really Happened to Baby Jane?
