Michael Seymour (production designer)

Michael Edmund Seymour (* 1932 in Southampton , Hampshire - † December 9, 2018 ) was a British production designer and art director .

Life

Seymour began his career on the film staff in 1965 as an uncredited assistant to the art director on the set of Richard Lester's comedy The Certain Kniff . The following year he worked in the same role in Michelangelo Antonioni's cult film Blow Up . With the beginning of the 1970s he worked as a set designer, among other things on the horror film - satire Theater des Horens . In 1980 he was nominated for Ridley Scott's science fiction film Alien, along with Leslie Dilley , Roger Christian and Ian Whittaker for an Oscar in the category of Best Production Design , but the award went to dance film that year Behind the spotlight .

In the 1980s and 1990s he was active in a number of other feature film productions, including Beverly Hills Cop III . His last engagement was with the direct-to-video action film Out For A Kill: Tong Tatoos - The Gate to Hell .
