Michele Cardinal Pellegrino (born April 25, 1903 in Centallo , Province of Cuneo , Italy , † October 10, 1986 in Turin ) was Archbishop of Turin and Cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

Michele Pellegrino studied in Milan and Turin, the subjects Catholic theology and philosophy and received on 19 September 1925, the sacrament of Holy Orders . In addition to temporary work as a pastor , he continued his university studies. From 1929 to 1933 he worked as clergyman director at the seminary of Fossano . In the years 1933 to 1943 he performed various management tasks in the diocese of Fossano . From 1941/42 to 1965 he was a lecturer at the University of Turin. He held the chair for Letteratura cristiana antica (ancient Christian literature) . From 1951 he also taught Greek and Latin grammar .

On September 18, 1965, Michele Pellegrino was appointed Archbishop of Turin. He was ordained episcopate on October 17th of the same year by the Bishop of Fossano, Giovanni Francesco Dadone ; Co-consecrators were Giuseppe Beltrami , Internuntius in the Netherlands, and Felicissimo Stefano Tinivella , former coadjutor of Turin. Pellegrino was the archbishopric until his age-related resignation on July 27, 1977 as the shepherd. In the consistory of June 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI took him . as a cardinal priest with the titular church Santissimo Nome di Gesù in the cardinals college.

Michele Pellegrino died in Turin on October 10, 1986 and was buried in the family vault in Roata Chiusani.
