Mick Audsley
Mick Audsley (born in London in the summer of 1949 ) is a British film editor .
Life
Michael 'Mick' Audsley was born in the 3rd quarter of 1949. After studying at Hornsey College of Art in London and the Royal College of Art , Audsley worked for the BFI Production Board . In the late 1970s he was an assistant editor for films such as King Liar and My Way Home . Was Audsley since 1982 on several projects from Stephen Frears , including My Beautiful Laundrette , An ordinary hero , High Fidelity and last Tamara Drewe for the section in charge. He also edited a few films for Mike Newell , including Mona Lisa's Smile , Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time .
In the summer of 2007 Audsley was offered by the director Terry Gilliam , for whom he had already assembled 12 monkeys , The cabinet of Dr. Cut Parnassus . He accepted the project because Gilliam’s tribe editor Lesley Walker was not available. With this, Audsley cut a film that was overshadowed by the tragic death of Heath Ledger while filming . The film was about to be abandoned and you didn't know how to deal with the budget, the finished scenes, the script and the insurance. In the meantime, there was such paranoia among producers, directors and senior filmmakers that individual scenes were hidden before it was decided how the project should proceed. In order to bring the film to a close, it had to be aesthetically reinvented from the ground up (Aesthetically, we have had to reinvent the movie from the ground up) .
Audsley was on the jury of the British Independent Film Awards 2005 .
Audsley describes himself as an old-fashioned editor with a Moviola background (I'm an old-fashioned editor from a Moviola background) . Precisely because he is intensively entrusted with editing his films, he says he needs about 3 to 5 years to watch one of his films again. And yet he can still do bits of dialogue from all the films over 20 years by heart (It usually takes me about three to five years. I can still do bits of dialogue from all the films over 20 years) .
