Michael "Mick" John Kells Fleetwood (born June 24, 1947 in Redruth , England ) is a rock musician , known as the co-founder and drummer of the band Fleetwood Mac , whose name also includes his family name.

Career

In addition to his permanent membership in Fleetwood Mac, initially called Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac by Peter Green in 1967 , he has also released several solo albums since 1981, which, however, largely went unnoticed. Only the album The Visitor caused a bit of a stir, as it was recorded in Accra / Ghana.

In autumn 2008 he went on a tour with the "Mick Fleetwood Blues Band" for the 40th anniversary of the band Fleetwood Mac. Here mainly pieces from the Peter Green phase of the band were played. The singer and guitarist was Rick Vito , who had been with Fleetwood Mac for a few years in the late 1980s. The band also released a CD with studio and live recordings, and in 2010 a DVD with concert recordings.

As an actor, Mick Fleetwood worked in the film Running Man and also had a guest appearance in the science fiction series Spaceship Enterprise: The Next Century .

In 2016 Rolling Stone listed him as 60th of the 100 best drummers of all time .

Mick Fleetwood was married again to Jenny Boyd in 1970 and after the divorce ; this marriage did not last either. There are two children from this relationship. Jenny Boyd is the younger sister of Pattie Boyd , so first George Harrison and then Eric Clapton was his brother-in-law .
