Mike Hill (film editor)

Michael "Mike" Hill (born 1952 in Omaha , Nebraska ) is an American film editor .

Life

Prior to his career in the film business, he studied at the University of Nebraska Omaha . He graduated from criminal justice in 1972. He then worked as a prison guard in California.

He made his editor debut in 1981 with a television film for the series Cagney & Lacey . Since the film Nightshift from 1982, he worked with his colleague Daniel P. Hanley as editor for the director Ron Howard until 2015 . The two seldom work with other directors; an exception was, for example, the cemetery of cuddly toys . In 1996 they were awarded the Oscar for the film Apollo 13 .
