Michael John Myers (born May 25, 1963 in Scarborough , Ontario ) is a Canadian film actor , screenwriter , film producer and voice actor .

Life

Mike Myers was born the son of British immigrants in Scarborough and began his career in the film business in the mid-1970s with small roles in various American television series. From 1989 he was one of the screenwriters of Saturday Night Live , in the same year Myers was awarded the Emmy for this, together with his numerous colleagues . He became known for his first lead role in the hit comedy Wayne's World , which emerged from a character developed for Saturday Night Live. He gained even greater fame through his Austin Powers films, in which he played several roles. The first part of this series was released in 1997 under the title Austin Powers - The Sharpest Thing Her Majesty has to offer in the cinemas, Myers was also involved in this film as a screenwriter.

From 1993 to 2005 he was married to the actress and author Robin Ruzan .

In 2008, Myers was one of the best-paid actors in Hollywood , according to Forbes Magazine . Between June 2007 and June 2008, he received fees of 55 million US dollars, for which the success of Shrek was mainly responsible, and, along with Eddie Murphy , ranked behind Will Smith (80 million US dollars) and Johnny Depp (72 Million US dollars) in third place.

The year 2008 marked the beginning of a creative crisis. Myers' film The Love Guru , in which he starred and also co-wrote the script, was panned by film critics and was a commercial flop. Afterwards he only appeared very occasionally as an actor.

In 2013, Myers directed Supermensch - Who is Shep Gordon? (Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon) made a documentary, making his directorial debut in the field. The film is about Shep Gordon, a music manager, and hit US theaters in early June 2014.
