from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jesus Miguel "Mike" Sanchez (born February 17, 1964 in Hackney , London , England ) is an English blues, boogie-woogie, rockabilly and rhythm'n blues pianist, guitarist and singer .

Life

After moving to the English Midlands with his parents at the age of eleven, he began playing the piano. His great musical preference was the American rockabilly. His first great role models were Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard , whose musical style he admired. As a teenager, he founded a trio that played this music.

A short time later, Robert Plant ( Led Zeppelin ) introduced Sanchez to the former member of Chicken Shack and Savoy Brown Andy Silvester, who then founded the Big Town Playboys, a band dedicated to post-war rhythm and blues. Garry Brooker, the former pianist of Procol Harum, introduced him to Eric Clapton and Andy Fairweather-Low , the latter becoming guitarist for the Big Town Playboys in the 1990s. The band opened up for Eric Clapton, performed at many European music festivals and accompanied American blues musicians such as Lowell Fulson , Don & Dewey, Joe Hughes, Jimmy Nelson , Carey Bell and Little Willie Littlefield . After the group broke up in 1999, he devoted himself to his solo career and became a member of Bill Wyman 's Rhythm Kings for four years , where he played with Georgie Fame , Beverly Skeete , Albert Lee , Andy Fairweather-Low and Eddie Floyd . In December 2007, he sang at the Led Zeppelin Reunionkonzert in London, a tribute to the late founder of Atlantic Records , Ahmet Ertegun .

Sanchez also produced and recorded film scores, such as B. for I'll Be There (2003). His goal is and has been to make every live show his best, which has earned him a huge following in all age groups. The Blues in Britain magazine chose him from 2000 to 2004 for UK Keyboard Player of the Year .

In his band, Oliver Darling on guitar, Al Gare on bass, Mark Morgan on drums, Nick Lunt on baritone saxophone and Martin Winning on tenor saxophone play .
