Mike Smithson
Michael Scott "Mike" Smithson (* in Woodstock , Illinois ) is an American makeup artist and special effects artist .
Life
Smithson began his film staff career in 1985, initially with television. One of his first film work was the Michael Jackson - short film Captain EO in the following year. This was followed by the science fiction films Predator , The Blob and Alien - The Rebirth , among others . Smithson has worked under renowned directors such as Steven Spielberg , Tim Burton , James Cameron , Kenneth Branagh and Clint Eastwood . 2000 he was for Jay Roach's spy comedy Austin Powers - The Spy Who Shagged Me along with Michele Burke for the Oscar in the category Best Makeup and Best hairstyles nominated, but won this year's biopic Topsy-Turvy - Upside Down .
Smithson has worked for television in addition to his film engagements, including the series Preacher , Grimm, and Marvel's Inhumans . For his work, he was nominated three times for the Primetime Emmy between 1994 and 2004 , which he won in 2004 for an episode of the Gilmore Girls series . For this episode he also won the Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Award from the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild .
