Microdata

Microdata or individual data are the original data from statistical surveys that relate to survey units. They are the opposite of macro data (group data, aggregated data). Microdata, if they relate to persons ( personal data ), are usually only publicly accessible in anonymised form in public use files for data protection reasons .

So-called macro data can be generated from the microdata by compression ( aggregation ) and plausibility checks .
