The military airfield Akıncı ( Turkish Akıncı Hava üssü , ICAO code LTAE ) is a military airport in Turkey . In 2016 the airfield was renamed. He got the old name Mürted Hava Üssü back. Mürted means "apostate".
The airfield is located about 25 km northwest of Ankara at an altitude of 843 meters. The runway has a length of 3350 m with a usable width of 42 meters.
There are three squadrons of General Dynamics F-16 C / D stationed there. Up until 1996 nuclear weapons were also stored there.
In July 2016, the airfield was one of the sites of the attempted military coup . In the aftermath of the attempted coup, this airfield, like all military facilities from which the attempted coup was controlled, is to be closed.
