The Chkalovsky Air Base ( Russian Аэродром Чкаловский ) is located 31 km northeast of Moscow near Schcholkowo in Moscow Oblast (Moscow Military District) near Star City . It is named after Valery Pavlovich Chkalov .

The 8th Special Purpose Aircraft Division (8th ADON) is stationed in Chkalovsky and is directly subordinate to the High Command of the Air Force (WWS WGK) . The 8th ADON consists of the following units:
- 70th Special Purpose Aviation Regiment (70th APON)
- 353rd Special Purpose Air Regiment (353rd APON)
- 354th Special Use Air Regiment (354th APON)
- 223rd Aviation Division
Aircraft types
The tasks of the units, as well as the parking spaces, are divided into two parts. There are both transport aircraft and machines for electronic reconnaissance in Chkalovsky . The aircraft of the transport aircraft stationed in Chkalovsky include An-12 , An-26 , An-72 , Il-76 and for (VIP) passenger transport Il-18 , Il-62 , Tu-134 and Tu-154 . The last three types are operated in the colors of the companies Aeroflot and Rossija .
The fleet of electronic reconnaissance aircraft consists of various An-12, Il-18, Il-20 , Il-22M , Il-76WKP / Il-82 and Il-86WKP .
