Summit of the eponymous Milseburg

The Milseburgweg (HWO 3) is a long-distance hiking trail in the Rhön . It leads in a west-east direction from Fulda in East Hesse over the eponymous mountain Milseburg to Meiningen in southern Thuringia . The Milseburgweg bears the seal of the German Hiking Association "Quality Trail Wanderable Germany". The carrier of the Milseburgweg with the designation HWO3 is the hiking and homeland association " Rhönklub ".

The entire length of the Milseburgweg is 82.5 kilometers, but it can also be walked a little shortened.

Route: Fulda station - Petersberg - Margretenhaun - Stellberg near Wolferts - Milseburg - Findlos - Batten - Rhönwald - Ellenbogen - Kaltensundheim - Aschenhausen - Geba - Gebaberg - Träbes - Herpf - Elisabethenburg Castle ( Meiningen ) - Meiningen station and vice versa.

Stages

A hike with four daily stages is recommended.

  • The first stage is 20 kilometers long from the Fulda train station to the “Fuldaer Haus” on the Maulkuppe . The level of difficulty is "medium".
  • The second stage continues from the “Fuldaer Haus” to Batten and Hilders . The length is 18.5 kilometers with a medium level of difficulty.
  • The third stage leads over a length of 19.5 kilometers with an average degree of difficulty from Batten to Kaltensundheim .
  • The fourth stage finally leads from Kaltensundheim to Meiningen train station . Here the length with a difficult level of difficulty is 24.5 kilometers.

The stages can of course also be tackled in reverse order.

Labelling

As a quality trail, the Milseburgweg has dense marking and numerous signposts. The marker is a red filled triangle on a white mirror. The signs are marked with the Milseburgweg logo.
