Life
Hall initially attended San Diego State University , but dropped out and began teaching at the San Francisco Opera . Her career in film staff began in 1988 with television, where she worked on 38 episodes of the television series The Night Falcon until 1990 . Her film debut was the adventure film The Duel of the Masters of Jeremy Kagan in 1991. She worked in the wake of Hollywood - blockbusters such as Pearl Harbor . In 2010 she won an Oscar for Best Make-up and Best Hairstyles for JJ Abrams ' science fiction film Star Trek, along with Barney Burman and Joel Harlow . This was followed by other major film productions such as McG's action film That's Trouble and Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street .
Hall returned to television in 2015, where she first worked on the series Elementary , followed in 2018 by Dead Girls Don't Lie . She was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 2011 for her work on the television film Cinema Verite , which she did not win, however, with Diane Lane and Tim Robbins in the leading roles .
