Council of Ministers of Cuba

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Council of Ministers of Cuba ( Spanish : Consejo de Ministros de Cuba ) is the highest administrative body of the state of Cuba . Its members are appointed by the Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular , the Cuban Parliament , on the proposal of the President of the Council of State.

History of the Council of Ministers

Under the Cuba Constitution of 1940, the Council of Ministers, including the Prime Minister , met with the President of the Republic , who presided over the assemblies. The resolutions were passed with a simple majority.

With the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and the Basic Law of the same year, he was given full legislative power, as was the appointment of the President of the Republic. This lasted until the new constitution was passed in 1976.

Current composition

The Council of Ministers is headed by its Executive Committee, which consists of the President ( Manuel Marrero Cruz ), the 1st Vice-President (also 1st Vice-President of the Council of State: José Ramón Machado Ventura ), an indefinite number of Vice-Presidents, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruíz , General Antonio Enrique Lussón Batlle , Interior Minister Abelardo Colomé Ibarra , Agriculture Minister Ulises Rosales del Toro and the Secretary of the Council of Ministers ( José Amado Ricardo Guerra ).

The vice-presidents take on government tasks that include the tasks of several ministries, develop inter-ministerial tasks or are directly subordinate to the presidency. The secretary combines coordinative functions comparable to those of a prime minister of a presidential republic.
