Miyo Akao

Miyo Akao ( Japanese 赤 尾 美 代 , Akao Miyo ; born August 29, 1981 in Hita ) is a Japanese badminton player .

Career

She is the older sister of the badminton player Aki Akao and attended like this the Shōwa-Gakuen high school in Hita. In 1998 she won with her schoolmate Satoko Suetsuna at badminton high school championships ( 高校 選 抜 , kōkō sembatsu ) in women's doubles. A year later she won there in the women's singles and reached second place in the doubles with her sister. At the Inter-High high school championships ( 高校 総 体 , kōkō sōtai ) in the same year 1999, she also won the women's singles and both sisters reached third place in the women's doubles. After school, she joined the Yonex company like her sister and played for their factory team.

Miyo Akao won the 2003 Dominican Republic International and the Carebaco Championship in the women's singles. Two years later she won the Croatian International in the same discipline.
