Mohammed Ibrahim asch-Schaar

Mohammed Ibrahim asch-Schaar ( Arabic محمد الشعار, DMG Muḥammad Ibraim aš-Šaʿār ; also al-Schaar ; * 1950 in Latakia ) is a Syrian politician and military officer with the rank of major general .

He has been a major and in the leadership circle of the Syrian army as well as the country's interior minister since 2011. In 1971 he joined the army. He was head of the military police in Aleppo and director of the prison in Saidnaya . Before he became Minister of the Interior, he was the commander of the military police.

On July 18, 2012, he was wounded in an assassination attempt.
