The Mombacho is a volcano in Nicaragua near the city of Granada .
It houses in a nature reserve one of the most impressive areas of the remaining tropical rainforest in Nicaragua with unique flora and fauna . The list of different plants that can be found around the volcano contains around 700 species, including many orchids . From the volcano you have an impressive view of Lake Nicaragua and its islands right next to it . There are several hiking and climbing trails.
The Mombacho is an active stratovolcano , but has not erupted since 1570. There is no record of previous eruptions .
