The Monashee Mountains are a mountain range located in British Columbia , Canada and Washington , United States (78% of the area is Canada, the rest of 22% is the United States). They extend 530 km from north to south and 150 km in west-east direction and are part of the Columbia Mountains . The Selkirk Mountains connect to the west . The mountains are bounded to the east by the Columbia River and the Arrow Lakes , to the west are the upper North Thompson River , Shuswap Lake and Okanagan Lake . The northern end is the Robson Valley near Valemount . Between Revelstoke and Shuswap Lake, the mountain range is crossed by British Columbia Highway 1 , part of the Trans-Canada Highway and the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway via Eagle Pass . At the southern end of the Monashee Mountains there is a brisk mining industry.
With a height of 3274 m , Mount Monashee is the highest mountain in the mountain range. In the Monashee Mountains is also the Monashee Provincial Park .

In some descriptions of the Monashee Mountains , the area known as the Okanagan Highland is included. It lies between the Kettle River and Okanagan Lake , south of the Shuswap River . The small Sawtooth Range within this area lies between the upper reaches of the Shuswap River in the east and Mabel Lake in the west.
In some cases, the Shuswap Highland south of the North Thompson River is also included, which connects to the Okanagan Highland to the south.
