Morgan Johansson (* 1970 ) is a Swedish politician ( SAP ) and Minister of Justice and Interior in the Löfven II government . He has been Deputy Prime Minister since September 10, 2019. Between 2002 and 2006 he was Minister of Health in the Persson government , and between 2014 and 2017 Minister of Justice and Migration in the Löfven I government .

Life

After studying political science at Lund University from 1989 to 1993, Johansson first worked as a journalist for the social democratic daily Arbetet ( Die Arbeit ). In 1997 he became an advisor to Prime Minister Göran Persson's staff . In the 1998 Reichstag election , he then entered the Swedish Reichstag for the Social Democrats . In his first legislative term he was a member of the Judiciary Committee.

In 2002 Johansson became Minister of Health in the Social Democratic Persson government . After being voted out of office in 2006, he was again a full member of the Reichstag and initially a member of the Constitutional Committee, and from 2010 chairman of the Justice Committee. Between 2006 and 2008 he was part of the working group that prepared the Swedish constitutional reform of 2010.

After the parliamentary elections in 2014 , Johansson became Minister of Justice and Migration in the red-green minority government of Stefan Löfven . In particular, the refugee crisis from 2015 fell into his term of office . After the government reshuffle on July 27, 2017, Morgansson became Minister of Justice and the Interior, taking over the duties of the previous Minister of the Interior, Anders Ygeman . Her successor as migration minister was Heléne Fritzon .
