history

Morgenbladet was founded in 1819 by the printer Niels Wulfsberg and was the country's first daily newspaper. Your political line could be described as conservative. During the Second World War, the German occupying power banned the publication of the newspaper, and its editors Olaf Gjerløw and Fredrik Ramm were captured.

Morgenbladet was Norway's largest newspaper for a long time, but had to struggle to survive in the post-war period.

The newspaper in its current form was created in 1993 when Truls Lie became the owner and editor-in-chief and converted it into a weekly newspaper.
