history
One building in Muscle Shoals is listed on the National Register of Historic Places , FAME Studios as of July 12, 2019. In 1974, the non-profit organization International Fertilizer Development Center was founded , based in Muscle Shoals.
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, Muscle Shoals inhabited 11,924 people. The population density was 378.3 people per km ². There were 5010 housing units at an average of 158.9 per km ². The Muscle Shoals population was 83.88% White , 14.16% Black or African American , 0.38% Native American , 0.56% Asian , 0.31% said racial and 0.70 % % named two or more races. 1.16% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of Muscle Shoals' distributed to 4,710 households out of which 34.7% were living in children under 18 years of age. 59.4% of households were married, 11.3% had a female head of the household without a husband and 26.7% were not families. 23.8% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 8.2% of all households aged 65 years or older.
