This article deals with the music in Königsberg in the Duchy of Prussia , the Kingdom of Prussia and the Free State of Prussia from the 16th century to 1945. In Königsberg i. Pr. The music was already in the court of the Duke of Prussia maintained. Hofkapellmeister were Johann Eccard and his pupil Johann Stobäus . Opera and concert

As everywhere, house music was initially only practiced in the houses of the nobility. Public performances of operas and concerts came about in the 19th century. Choirs

Hermann Scherchen , a promoter of modern music, was the dominant personality in Königsberg's musical life. He also directed the concerts at the 60th Tonkünstlerfest of the General German Music Association in Königsberg.

New beginning

In 2010, the MDR Orchestra was the first German orchestra to make a guest appearance in Kaliningrad . In honor of its founder Otto Nicolai , the Vienna Philharmonic gave a concert in Königsberg Cathedral that same year .
